HI, FRIDAY! You are special. You are wonderful. You are loved. You bring with you the promise of the weekend.
How are you, my friends? I’m just dandy as I’m sitting at my kitchen bar this early Friday morning, drinking my second cup of coffee, and procrastinating getting ready for work. You know, the usual. Why don’t you grab your own mug of something delightful, and reminisce this past week or so with me?
1 Ah, Christmas. It sure was a delightful holiday weekend, where I spent FOUR days at home with my family. It was also my son’s first Christmas (which I’ve been blabbing about relentlessly, but I’m sorry it was just TOO CUTE watching him try to understand what the point was of ripping paper off of things) and he was spoiled beyond belief by our families! At one point yesterday evening, he had three toys in front of him, and I could just read the expression on his face: What toy do I play with???
2 The Short-A-Thon readathon has been very helpful for giving my reading goal a gentle, little push, but I definitely won’t be finishing 10 books like I was going to try to do. I think I’ll get to four. But hey, better than none. Two have proved to be duds, but one was AMAZING: Puddle Jumping by Amber L. Johnson. And I’m ecstatic to find there’s a sequel in the works. I’m currently reading Fall Like Rain by Ana Tejano, and it’s a bit painful to trudge through… 😵 So far, it’s at a 1-star rating, and I’m just at 68%.
3 I received my subscription boxes last week! Scribbler and OwlCrate. But as it’s the end of the year, I have LOTS of posts planned and I don’t see room for unboxing posts. Here’s the low-down: they both ROCKED! Scribbler gave me a ‘Complete the Story’ workbook, which I am excited for, and an exciting book. OwlCrate, bless their hearts, gave me a monthly reading planner *fist pump* and a beautiful tote bag. New years’ resolution time: do an unboxing post with every sub box I get!
4 I’m honestly not ready to put away all of my Christmas decor yet. I still want to be jolly and full of cheer! My Christmas tree (which I keep lit 24/7) always brings a happy touch to my living room, and I just don’t want to part with that yet.
5 My son, Rowan, has started to pull himself up on things… Yikes. And while I’m so proud of him, I’m scared to death he’s going to seriously injure himself, because he’s stiiiiill a bit wobbly and doesn’t have his balance down one hundred percent yet. He’s bonked his head quite a few times so far this week, and it hurts my heart when he cries. 😭 What’s the secret to keeping your little one LITTLE? Somebody tell me!!!
