My blog is an escape, an outlet, a place I come to when I want to talk about life, or rant, and most importantly: talk about books. Stories are a huge part of my life, but lately, other parts of my life have taken precedence, and the stories don’t get read as quickly as they used to. I guess that comes with being a mom.
Sometimes, though, it’s hard to not compare myself to other bloggers who dish out a review at least every three days, along with other quality content posts, while also living their daily lives. I really struggle with that! I want to post more reviews, and I want to think up quality content that will draw in more readers so that I can make more connections in the book blogging world… but my reading just isn’t what it used to be.
My reading just isn’t what it used to be.
I used to be able to read a book in about a week. (Still pretty slow compared to others, but I tended to savor the story. Otherwise a lot of details go right out the window of my mind!)
Nowadays, it typically takes me 2+ weeks to finish a book. Life is just so busy, and somedays it’s just too hard to focus on reading a book. I’ll try, but end up giving up in less than 15 minutes because either a chore has to be done, my son needs attending to, or I’m just too tired and fall asleep mid-sentence.
On average, I can read a book in about 2 weeks.
Occasionally, I can read one in a week, if it’s really un-put-down-able, but my average is about 2 weeks. I honestly can’t remember the last time I finished a book in less time. But like I said, life had thrown me some curveballs lately, and outside of my blog, my life is busy. Usually, the books I read are 300+ pages, as well, so if I read something smaller, I’m sure I could read it in way less time!
How long does it take you to read a single book? What things in your life keep you from reading as much as you’d like?
