blog digest #43 / another solicited dose of rosie-dom, and the goings-on in my corner of the world
Do Santa’s cookies pair well with red wine? Asking for a friend.

It’s been pretty dead over here, and I apologize. I haven’t been in the mood to blog lately. For one, Christmas is right around the corner. For another, I’ve been feeling so very lethargic and tired. I don’t get much done around the house, either – or if I do, it’s with small bursts of energy. At least I can say with confidence that my workouts are getting done (somehow…) and I basically have ALL Christmas shopping done!

Since last time, a lot of fun things have happened! And waffling between doing a weekly recap every week now instead of two, because I have the mind of a gnat and I just can’t remember things like I used to. 😖 Getting old sucks, bro.

I got to take my son to COSI, which stands for Center of Science and Industry. I hadn’t been for several years, and a friend of mine invited my family, so we took the day off work and went on an adventure! Above, Rowan is checking out a dinosaur bone, and playing with a ‘water bell’ in the Oceans exhibit.

We also saw Santa multiple times in the past two weeks! We never got any tears, but he didn’t willingly sit on the Big Guy In Red’s lap, either. We saw him a total of 3 times, though, and each time got increasingly better. He went from “Get me off of this weird guy’s lap!” to just blatantly staring at him with a weird expression on his face. 😅

YEP, THAT’S RIGHT GUYS, I PICKED UP SOME BOOKS ON POTTY TRAINING!!! I have no idea what I’m doing, and I haven’t even opened these books yet. Any tips would be extremely welcome.

I’ve never been so excited yet so terrified at the same time.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Book #Tag!

Talking about book characters & books with the cast of the Halloween/Christmas favorite! Let’s debate: is it a Christmas movie, or a Halloween one?

  • MEDDLING KIDS by Edgar Cantero. Finished. ★★★ It was a good story, and started out really strongly. I can’t tell if it started fizzling out because of the story, or because of me. I loved how similar it felt to my beloved Scooby Doo cartoons I grew up with, and the way the author wrote out what was happening was awesome, but sometimes it was a little too complicated. (Goodreads)
  • STRANGE THE DREAMER (Audiobook) read by Steve West. Finished. ★★★★★ I loved this story just as much the second time. Steve West is just a phenomenal narrator. (Goodreads)
  • THE CRUEL PRINCE by Holly Black. Started. Read to 15%. Too early for a verdict. I started this Monday, though. 😬

I started watching a little bit of Scream Queens season 2, but I’m not as invested as I was with season 1. But have you guys been watching The Mandalorian??? This week’s episode got me like 😱!!!

And yes, I’m totally all aboard the baby Yoda train. Hims so cuuuuute!

Do you watch The Mandalorian? Are you prepared for the holiday season? I can’t believe it’s almost upon us already!

I’m linking up my post to The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves!

One Comment to Weekly / Deck the halls with boughs of holly, falalalala~

  1. My only tip re potty training is to do it when they show signs of being ready, it’s the difference between potty training for a year or potty training for a few weeks, the latter is far less stressful for everyone.

Wishing you a great reading week and a joyful holiday season
