blog digest #55 / the weekly rundown on the goings-on of my life, the new books, & what i've been reading + watching!
Hi friends! I’m just going to come right out and say it: I’m officially an Animal Crossing addict. I started playing it five days ago and I. Can’t. Stop. I’ve actually been doing a whole lot of game-playing and slacking on the blogging-and-reading. It;s not like I haven’t thought about my blog, because I have. I think about it a lot. I kept thinking I should open up my laptop and just write something (like my reviews that are long overdue) but I just never could bring myself to do it – or put down my Nintendo Switch. šŸ¤£

Literally, my Switch is perpetually plugged in because I’ve been using it so much.

THAT STAY-AT-HOME LIFE / As of Thursday, my preschool is officially closed until May 1st, when we will – hopefully šŸ¤žšŸ» – return. The week before last, I worked a total of 9 hours because our building was so low – normally, we’ve got over 200 kids in our building, and that week we were in the 60-70 range, which was so weird. I basically wasn’t needed (we had no babies in my room, where I am an infant teacher), so I just stayed home and kept Rowan home, too. Last week, I went ahead and worked Monday thru Wednesday, and I don’t think we ever had more than 30 kids in the building. Rowan and I have gotten out of the house for a lot of fresh air (on days that it’s been nice), but I’m trying to find more things to keep him/us entertained. šŸ˜… (Suggestions are welcome, in fact, they are encouraged.)

My favorite toy, currently. (And my neglected books in the background.)

REVIVED GAMER / It simply started out as me just getting back into my Spyro Reignited game on the PS4, in which I beat Ripto’s Rage and then proceeded to play the Year of the Dragon. And then… I picked up my dusty and neglected Nintendo Switch. I made some progress with Let’s Go Pikachu and a good chunk of progress with Super Mario Odyssey… and then I got to playing on the SNES game where I played some Yoshi Island. But then… after a couple days of thinking about it, I finally succumbed and downloaded Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Life as I knew it changed forever with that decision. Guys, I can’t stop playing it. (Currently accepting friends to play with, so if interested DM me on Twitter!)

Top Ten Tuesday: My Spring/Quarantine TBR

Sorry if it’s too soon to call it my “Quarantine TBR” – but c’mon, that’s basically what it is. (And honestly, since I revived my Switch, I haven’t been doing a good job with this TBR thing… šŸ˜³)

WWW + Can’t Wait Wednesday: Happy & You Know It

I have only a couple CWW’s under my blogging belt, but I also wanted to add in WWW’s with it! So this was my first time doing both!

Nothin’ here, guys.

  • TO BE HONEST (Audiobook) read by Eileen Stevens. Finished. ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜… This was a cute book, but something about the end felt too…Ā  anticlimactic? I did enjoy the mother/daughter dynamic in this one, and George was a pretty great love interest! (Goodreads)
  • eARC: THE SCAPEGRACERS by Hannah Abigail Clarke. Still reading. Read to 42%. Oops, I’ve been distracted by Animal Crossing… šŸ˜¬ (Goodreads)

Peter Kavinsky šŸ˜

ā€ŗā€ŗ Shameless ā€“ We made it to season3, finally! And as bad as Frank is, good Lord I’m so happy Monica is gone again. šŸ„³
ā€ŗā€ŗ Dollface ā€“ I finished the rest of the season as soon as Operation: Isolation started last Thursday, hahaha. This show is actually so good! I loved how Jules (Kat Dennings) had a harder time fighting for her friendships, but in the end, didn’t give up. I can’t wait to see what the next season will bring – helloooo Dr. Veterinarian, Wes!
ā€ŗā€ŗ Schitt’s Creek ā€“ I also finally finished the first season of this comedy! I really love David and Moira. I’ll be keeping up with this show, for sure.
ā€ŗā€ŗ P.S. I Still Love You ā€“ It’s about time I watched this one!!! Ah, it was so good, and I’m so happy with the way the end turned out! Oh, Peter. šŸ’˜

  • Hopefully more sun-shiny days so we can get outside and get exercise.
  • Is there really that much to look forward to?
  • Except for Animal Crossing, obvs.
do you play animal crossing? what have you been reading lately? how are you managing your days during this weird time? are you still working? stay safe and healthy, my friends!

Iā€™m linking up my post to The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves!
