I’ve decided to add another lil’ meme to my bookish repertoire. Can’t Wait Wednesday, which is hosted by Wishful Endings, allows you to spotlight a book (yet to be published) that you are so freaking excited over and just need an excuse to flail over!
Flailing is fun in the book world.
So this week, for my first installment of Can’t Wait Wednesday, I’m choosing Ninth House. I knooooow you’ve probably seen this absolutely everywhere, and probably half of the community has already read it (?) but I’m showcasing it anyhow!
When I first read Shadow and Bone in 2016, I instantly knew Bardugo was going to be a new favorite author of mine. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to pick up Six of Crows, and therefore, Crooked Kingdom, and no, I haven’t read King of Scars, either, like I admitted to in yesterday’s Top ten Tuesday post. Nevertheless, I still want to read her books, because the Grisha trilogy left such an impression on me.
Ninth House is published on October 8th, and if you’ve read it, please leave me your (hopefully) glowing thoughts!
This Week’s Pick
Author: Leigh Bardugo
Series: Alex Stern #1
Expected Publication: October 8th, 2019 by Flatiron Books
Genres: fantasy, contemporary, new adult
Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. By age twenty, in fact, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most elite universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?
Still searching for answers to this herself, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale’s secret societies. These eight windowless “tombs” are well-known to be haunts of the future rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street and Hollywood’s biggest players. But their occult activities are revealed to be more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive.
What book are you looking forward to reading? Are you going to read Ninth House when it comes out?
