DUDE, where did June come from?! It hit us from way out of left field, and I don’t know where this year thinks it’s going. I’ve been preoccupied pretty much all throughout April and May, though, because we had lots of events happening: Rowan’s first birthday, Isaac’s birthday, and my birthday, so yeah we just got all of those out of the way.

I went hard for Rowan’s first birthday. I mean, isn’t that like a rule? To make sure the first birthday is the BEST, and then I just slowly start decaying and getting worse with them because it doesn’t really matter? The kids have fun regardless, right? No, but the perfectionist freak that I am came out the few days before, and a lot of the decorating came last minute and consumed my soul for a good 48 hours. Then the party came and went, and all was back to the way it should be. But dammit did I get some excellent pictures of him stuffing his face with cake!

You can’t tell me those aren’t the CUTEST chubby cheeks you’ve seen today!

Feeling: ?
We Hunt the Flame – Hafsah Faizal ?
Drinking: Coffee to begin my day.
Currently: Rowan’s going though some kind of sleep regression, or else he’s just got a cold and can’t sleep well, I can’t tell which. Maybe both. Either way, I’m feeling a bit zombie-ish. ?‍♀️ Plz send moar caffeine.

  1. LOVE the pics of your little one and his cake!! I think you’re right that you have to go all out for that first birthday. Glad you had a great time, even if it was exhausting to get ready for it.

  2. Allisa White says:

I’m so excited for House of Salt and Sorrows! It sounds amazing! Looks like you had a great last couple of months! I hope June is good for you too 🙂

    • They were pretty eventful! ? And yes, I just reeeeally loved that book. I will recommend it to ANYONE who will listen lol! I’m really big on unreliable narrators, and the author did a great job with that. I hope you have a fabulous June! x

  3. Great post! I wasn’t a huge fan of illuminae myself but I hope you enjoy it!

  4. Kyra Morris says:

I really want to read Aurora Rising! It sounds so good.

  5. Danielle Hammelef says:

So cute! Love the one year birthday photos! I also went wild with first birthdays and even baked mini cakes just for the kids to devour and destroy. I made an extra and took it with us to the photographer and I have cute photos of my daughter with her cake before, during, and after she’s wearing lots of the frosting. I have Aurora Rising on hold at the library and hope to get to that book after my current read–The Virtue of Sin (sooo good!). I also read an ARC of Wicked Fox and it was a 5+ star book.
